spinning wheel

Well, here it is, my latest acquisition. It is an Ashford traditional wheel, bought used. A late birthday/early Christmas present to myself--but hopefully one that will yield some gifts for other people one of these days! Of course, I don't really know much about what I'm doing--right now I'm working with some merino/bamboo combed top that I purchased at my LYS, the Yarn Barn, and it's certainly trickier to spin than the wool that I prepared myself last spring. Still, I'm so happy to have a wheel of my own and am looking forward to seeing what I can do with it!

I do have yarn for the large shawl, but at the moment I'm craving the small version so I may go dive through the stash again and see if I've got something I could use. I'm kinda craving a solid color. Let me know what day you want to start and I'll start then too : ) Funny you should mention the knit and tonic patterns because I was just looking through her book custom knits last night and thinking everything in there looked cute. I've knit one of her sweaters from knitscene...it's the one I threaded a piece of fabric through on the neckline...brown-ish slubby cotton...which one were you thinking of trying? There's something about people having trouble with her raglan shaping being too baggy sticking in my head, but I think a lot of people have just modified it. OK...this seems way too long for a blog comment : ) Hope you find some good yarn for the ishbel...
